Tupu Aotearoa programme launched in Timaru

A huge thank you to Ara Institute Timaru for the use of their gym for the launch of the Tupu Aotearoa programme in Timaru on 2 Poutū‑te‑rangi (March) and a big thank you to all that attended. The launch was well supported by the local community with a performance from Timaru Boys High School and a kava ceremony.
In attendance were Gerardine Clifford-Lidstone (CEO Ministry for Pacific Peoples), Rev. Oteta Taule’alo (Samoan Congregational Church), Theresa Rorason (Tupu National Programmes Manager), John Tuamoheloa (Senior Policy Advisor MPP), Chris Muller (Director National Programmes MPP), members of the local Pacific Island community, employers, plus our own Te Tumuaki Clare McGowan , Priorities Engagement Facilitator/Tupu Aotearoa Project Manager Manogi Tavelia, Cluster Manager Mark Doyle and Timaru Site Coodinator Ravinder Battu.
Our new Tupu Aotearoa South Canterbury navigator Bale Serulaqeti Seniloli was also present. Ni sa bula vinaka to Bale who has joined us in this vital role.
Tupu Aotearoa is a career/study pathway for local Pacific people funded by the Ministry of Pacific Peoples and we are proud to be extending our delivery of this programme into Timaru. We have been having some great successes in Ōtautahi Christchurch over the last the year.
