Flourishing Pasifika in Aotearoa - New Zealand

New beginnings and a new partnership - Ministry for Pacific Peoples and Literacy Aotearoa

Noa'ia, Mauri, Ni Sa Bula Vinaka, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Tālofa, Kia orana, Mālō e lelei, Mālō ni, Talofa lava, Tēnā koutou katoa and greetings to you all.

Literacy Aotearoa is proud to announce that we have signed an agreement with the Ministry for Pacific Peoples that will increase our opportunity to work with Pasifika communities and use our respective capabilities to support our people to reach their aspirations.  We have become part of a group of organisations who will collaborate in the Northland and Marlborough-Nelson-Tasman regions to build successful outcomes for our Pasifika communities and aiga.

The Ministry for Pacific Peoples funded Tupu Aotearoa programme is aimed at helping Pacific people find employment and/or complete further training or study. It is an honour to be a partner and to be sharing the vaka that will grow and contribute to the flourishing of Pasifika peoples in Aotearoa – New Zealand.

Our communities flourish when people have access to learning and employment

In brief, Literacy Aotearoa will work alongside Pasifika who are not in employment, education or training to help develop the personal skills, study skills and employment skills needed to prepare for employment or a qualification. This is a valued opportunity to increase our connections to Pasifika communities.

It is our commitment to work alongside Pasifika to nurture their personal, magafaoa/aiga and community aspirations in a journey of co-learning, sharing and growing capabilities and outcomes together.

Each Literacy Aotearoa Cluster will deliver a 'Tupu Aotearoa Work Readiness' programme, that is designed with local Pasifika community leaders and aiga, and then adapted in response to individuals’ needs and goals for employment and educational qualification.

If you are a Pasifika learner who comes to us, we will work alongside you and support you to gain the skills and confidence to complete your goals. We will help you assess your current skills, interests and goals - and suggest a planned course of action. Our Work Readiness programme will support your next step into a job or to study for a relevant qualification.

Programme

You will learn in a small group, with 1:1 and magafaoa/aiga, coaching and mentoring available also.

As part of your personal development plan, our Tupu Aotearoa Work Readiness programme will cover these topics:
