Literacy Aotearoa offers the National Certificate in Adult Literacy Education (Educator) by negotiation, to groups of adult literacy educators (or intending adult literacy educators) around the country.  

 

The Programme

  • History and development of adult literacy in Aotearoa/New Zealand
  • Māori adult literacy
  • Adult literacy teaching and learning theories
  • Assessing adult literacy learning
  • Adult numeracy teaching
  • Design and delivery of literacy skills to an individual
  • Design and delivery of literacy skills to a group (elective)
  • Developing adult literacy and numeracy skills using ICT (elective)

Duration

  • Two years, part time.

Further Information:

 

Entry Criteria

  • Experience in adult literacy tuition OR intention to become an adult literacy educator;
  • Demonstrated ability to complete a programme of study at Level 5;
  • New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident status.

Course Fees

Course fees are $2,600.00 (incl. GST). 

There is a limited number of full-fee grants for this programme.
